Entre las organizaciones que desde la Ermita de la Caridad del Cobre, en una conferencia de prensa celebrada este lunes, hicieron un llamado para el levantamiento de las restricciones de los viaje y envio de remesas a Cuba establecida por el Presidente Bush, se encuentra el Instituto de Estudios Cubanos, dirigida por Jaime Suchliki.
El Instituto de Estudios Cubanos (IEC) es financiada por El Buro de America Latina y el Caribe de la Agencia para el Desarrollo Internacional de los Estados Unidos (USAID por sus siglas en ingles). Hasta el año fiscal 2005, ha recibido mas de 4 millones de dolares para el Proyecto de Transicion para Cuba (CTP por sus siglas en ingles). Su funcion es examinar las experiencias de otros paises que han logrado una transicion exitosa de dictaduras a democracias.
Hoy, en sus conclusiones para llevar la democracia a Cuba, exigen el levantamiento de las restricciones de viajes y envios de remesas a Cuba.
